Find A Home Based Job, But Avoid Scams

[ad#Google Adsense]
Again, there legitimate home based jobs. And you can find some that pay salaries or pay by the hour. Some may even have benefits, but many will not. We are working on a list to post (and hopefully keep updated with your help)! But wolves seem to crawl out of the wood work with deceptive ads that prey upon desperate people. The Christian Sciece Monitor published some tips to help you protect yourself.

Work At Home screams at you from the headline without much other information. This is typical bait.

They do not ask for any resume or skills. A real job position will certainly post some requirements.

They want money for information. A real job doesn’t ask you to pay them to sign up.

The money you can earn looks a bit too good to be true. It is doubtful that most homeworkers, unless they have some specific skills, can start off making “$65 and hour” or “$7,000 a week”. Now some high tech workers may make money like this, but isn’t this the same ad that said you didn’t need skills?

The ad doesn’t really include a job description. A real job posting will be pretty dry and specific about the requirements. If the job description is missing or evasive, be very wary.

The ad includes pictures of people on a beach, driving expensive cars, or living the good life, you can be sure that this is not a work a home job. At best it may be a business opportunity, and at worst it is one of the work at home business scams that we have outlined in other posts!

Again, we plan to start a list of places we believe are legitimate. It takes some time for us to research this. We hope that others will comment and add to our list, so we can begin to build a great resource. In the meantime, why don’t you do some of your own research.

Here’s Your Home Work!

Some simple internet searches for “salared work at home jobs”, “legitimate home jobs”, etc. are bound to give you plenty of information, and probably some examples of real job posts and work at home scams.

What is the problem with the Google Biz Kit or Google Profits?

[ad#Google Adsense]

Again, the problem is NOT that it is impossible to profit from search engines like Google. I, myself, make a living online, but it took me a long time to learn how to do this. Any internet marketer I have ever spoken too, who actually makes a full or part time income online, says the same thing. They worked hard, took the time to develop skills, and were willing to take some risks.

There are tons of free webmaster and internet marketing forums, like this one. If you take the time to read and research you can learn what to do. If you are not willing to take that time, you are not likely to do well at the business ayway.

Note: None of these products are actually affiliated with Google at all. Some of the names for the products are google cash scam, googlecash, google money tree scam, google kit scam, make money with google, etc. They are supposed to teach people how to make money by selling products to visitors they get through a major search engine like Google. But the people who get rich from them are the people selling the products.

The Problem of Instant Riches with Google Biz Kit or Google Profits

So you can see my first problem with any ads like the Google Biz Kit or Google Profits system that promise quick riches. I would be much more likely to trust an advertisement that promised to help a person make money with some hard work and patience. You would still get the advantage of unlimited income potential, flexible hours (though possibly lots of them), and a work at home job.

Google Biz Kit or Google Profits Rebill Scam

But here's my second problem These ads also imply that the information will be sent with a small credit card charge for shipping. It will be something like $1.99 or $5.99. But that is just the first payment, really meant to validate the credit card. In the FINE PRINT (notice I did not make the print fine), there will be information about a rebill. Some people are charged $70 a month or more because they have actually purchased a recurring membership! And many people have complained that these memberships are very hard to cancel too!

In fact, they may be so hard to cancel that they will actually hurt your credit if you don't pay. Be very wary of any rebill offers. I have enough problems with slick marketers gettig people to overpay for outdated or incomplete information and promises of quick riches. I have even more problems with rebill scams, and yes, they are being investigated by the FTC!

Yes, people make money online. Some of the people who make money who market the Google Biz Kit scam and Google Profits scam, and not always their customers!

What Scam Tries to Recruit Scammers?

[ad#Google Adsense]
Actually this particular work at home scam comes in dozens of forms, but you need to recognize it before you waste your hard earned money or, worse yet, succumb to the lure of scamming yourself. And though the internet has spread this around a lot, it is probably as old as printed medium. Heck, sleazy cavemen were probably chipping it out on stones.

Getting Paid To…..

Think about ads you have seen in magazines that promise you can get paid to type or stuff envelopes. On the internet, the hook may be a promise of making big money by sending emails or by turning your home computer into a 24/7 cash generating machine.

Now don’t get me wrong. I make my living online, and I’m not alone. However there is a big difference between getting paid for promoting legitimate products and services than by trying to make a dime by taking advantage of desperate people.

In fact, one popular e-book on the subject is titled – For Desperate Buyers Only! Can you imagine. Not only do people profit from taking advantage of poor or disabled people who need extra income, some of them profit from teaching other people how to do it!

So What is the Scam that Churns out Scammers?

Well all of the examples above probably have one thing in common. There is no company that wants to hire people to stuff envelopes, type letters, send emails, etc. What these marketers will do is send you instructions for creating your own advertisement along the same lines, and then send it out to anybody that you can sucker into it.

I have seen these ads on the internet, but I have also seen full page glossy pages in magazines that were devoted to the same thing. You really can start a home business, and if you stick around here, I hope you get some motivation and ideas. But please beware of work at home scams.
